Is it Greed to seek Wealth?

The love of money or just survival

Is it greed to seek wealth?

Greed; also known as avarice, cupidity, or covetousness is the inordinate desire to possess wealth, goods, or objects of abstract value with the intention to keep it for one’s self, far beyond the dictates of basic survival and comfort.

It is applied to a remarkably high desire for and pursuit of wealth, status or power.

“Greed is all right, by the way.  I want you to know that. I think greed is healthy. You can be greedy and still feel good about yourself”.

This was said by Ivan Boesky who famously defended greed in a May 18, 1986, commencement address at the University of California, Berkeley’s School of Business Administration.

This speech inspired the 1987 film ‘Wall Street’ which features the famous Gordon Gekko.

The love of money or Greed, for lack of a better word, is good?

Is Greed is right?

Does greed benefit humanity?

Greed clarifies, cuts through, and captures the essence of the evolutionary spirit.

How is Greed perceived, in all of its forms?

“Greed for life, for money, for love, knowledge has marked the upward surge of mankind.”

It is also said that:

“The chief expressions of greed are related to the emotional part of man, greed is a state of restlessness of the heart, and it consists mainly of craving for power and possessions”.

“Possessions and power are sought for the fulfilment of desires.

Man is only partially satisfied in his attempt to have the fulfilment of his desires, and this partial satisfaction stokes and increases the flame of craving instead of extinguishing it”.

Thus; Greed always seeks to find an infinite field of conquest and leaves the person endlessly dissatisfied.

Sods Law!

As a child you inherit your parent’s ambitions as well as, their assets (if any) and debts (if any); by way of DNA, nurturing, silver spoon or good fortune.

Now depending on where you live, the size of the Population and the good-management of the countries imports and GDP (Gross Domestic Product) etc; will determine how hard you will have to physically work to pay your dues and survive. Check out the 11 best economies to live in.

If any of these circumstances are not in your favour, then you will live in monetary poverty which inherently passes down to your offspring.

Our world is being run by money-brokers and everyone needs it to pay their rulers what they owe; as a result of being born on this earth and subjected to Human kind’s pursuit of fleeting power.

Just to sustain the cost or burdens associated with that which has been or is being accumulated.

This evidently can lead to a backlash and destruction of self; generally by way of scavenging and hoarding of materials or objects, also theft and robbery. Especially by means of violence, trickery, or even manipulation of authority.

The level of inordinate greed pertains to the amount of vanity, malice or burdens associated with it, which is why it is classified as a ‘deadly sin’.

Is it Greed to seek wealth or just survival?

Seeking wealth is a way of ensuring a life absent of poverty and isn’t necessary for survival; however our constraint or compulsion is regarded as a natural law governing all human action, so either you do without or you seek gain and join the flock.

To what extent do we join the flock and maintain Morals?

By paying taxes we empower the Economy; to which, with good-management of the economy increases the ‘real’ GDP.

This gives you a good standard of living and supposedly happiness, but is it happiness when you are working hard for it?

This obviously depends on the kind of work you enjoy and how difficult it is, for instance; a salesman might start by working 12-14 hours a day to establish a good client base then eventually you could be working 4 hours a day for the same income.

There are many factors to consider, because some are happy to work all year-long for a good standard of living and 4 weeks holiday. whilst some are not happy or enjoying it until they own a jet plane and a garage full of cars.

Where does greed fit in?

Greed is when you stop thinking of others and only of self ‘the Ego’.

Some egos are more demanding than others, justifying to themselves their excessive needs and actions, by having the ability and intention to help others in whatever way they need is considered to be philanthropy, which is not considered as greed.

Not to say that by greedily gaining wealth and then giving a portion of it away makes you a better ‘human being’, as some seem to think.

Is our greed because of self want or a need to be philanthropic?

When We start out to survive & provide for our loved ones.

To enjoy a better life, explore our creativity, curiosities and ambitions. This is ‘Human Nature’ until it turns to ‘Wealth Creation’, drawing you into the politics.

The haves and the have-not, this is human nature as mentioned before; so then your choice is to better yourself as the sole purpose ambition of life.

You can do this to the benefit and not to the detriment of ‘mankind’.

Your choice!

You’re so awesome! I don’t suppose I can learn something like this before. So good to find someone with some unique ideas about this subject, really thanks for bringing this up. This website is something that’s needed online, somebody with somewhat creativity. Excellent job for bringing something new to the internet!

Thanks Martina, we appreciate your comments as you are right not many people talk about this because they are tied down by it and dare not speak against it because of their jobs or mortgages.
For instance just recently in the financial crisis the public had to bail out the greedy bankers yet here we are the public suffering Austerity and accepting it.
Please Like/Share as we would like to get more people talking about these issues without fear.

I can do anything I want from this tiny little handheld device.
Unfortunately, the set hours stop and you often work from sun up to sun down trying to earn at least a decent income.
Doers find a way to hurdle each obstacle and move ahead in the process.

Hi Hanna, Thanks for your comments and regarding “Doers” yes we do find a way to hurdle each obstacle; a lot of it is done from handheld devices as well.
The key point that you raise is that “Time” is a major factor in our lives which determines certain choices that we make therefore good time-management is essential in wealth creation.
First you have to sacrifice some of your rest-periods to construct your ideas and research; that will allow you to formulate a niche.
We can offer you a lot of help from that stage which would not impact on your present schedule, you would be surprised how fast you could establish a shop or online service that would generate an extra income stream.
Just some quick thoughts on your comment that we can elaborate on in a private consultation, please contact us at: info@financemagnate.co.uk

Because of the many business ideas you can find online, you will often find it hard to choose the ones you like. While many companies ignore their website, the shrewd
entrepreneur recognizes this and leverages his or her website to slowly gain market share. Although cooperative entrepreneurship has got many advantages, there is the downside of it.

Hi Lester, Thanks for your comments and yes there are many business ideas out there because it is based on supply and demand not so much about what we like. However if it happens that you like say ‘Computers’ for instance, then you will find there are many others who share your interest and then its a matter of adding your take on the subject which will open up new avenues because we all have the power to think and be creative.
The downside of ‘Cooperative Entrepreneurship’ is not using it; please check our Post: http://financemagnate.co.uk/why-take-the-risk/
We hope you will find it informative and thought-provoking, if so let us know either way which will help to alleviate the “downside” of working together to achieve wealth.
      Best wishes,
      FM.

Hi Candy, Thanks for your feedback and research, there are many things which affect our lives in an adverse way yet we all go along with it.
The main reason for this is the support you get from others, which determines whether you stay as you are or strive for change.
We are hoping that you will share our website with those in your research so we can come together and make changes in their lives for the better.

They can hold a lot of the details for you and make sure that everything is taken care
of properly and they guarantee you that everything will run smoothly. Basically civil litigation breaks down to mean that two or more parties are having a legal dispute and are seeking monetary damages or precise actions to be carried out rather than seeking any criminal actions being sought. However don’t fall into the trap of trying to get the biggest property for the cheapest price.

Hi Frieda, I’m not sure everyone will know where you are coming from, but people do promise a lot without delivering which can lead to litigation etc. I agree with you that we shouldn’t fall into the trap of “trying to get the biggest property for the cheapest price”, however I believe that you are the master of your destiny and have to circumvent these obstacles on your journey to success.
We all have to negotiate life’s trials and tribulations that are thrown at us, but with support and knowledge it can be done.

We have to admit, the people who had the courage to venture and
